Our Business
Asahi Beverages formed in 2014 when we announced plans to integrate the operations of the Schweppes Australia (now known as Asahi Lifestyle Beverages) and Asahi Premium Beverages businesses. Later that year, we announced plans to extend the integration to include Independent Liquor (now Asahi Beverages) in New Zealand. In June 2020, we welcomed Carlton & United Breweries to the Asahi Beverages family.
Today, our business comprises of three business divisions: Asahi Lifestyle Beverages (formerly known as Schweppes Australia), Asahi Beverages New Zealand and Carlton & United Breweries (including Asahi Premium Beverages).
We employ around 3,800 people across Australia and New Zealand, with manufacturing facilities in both countries.
Asahi Beverages
Asahi Beverages formed in 2014 when we announced plans to integrate the operations of the Schweppes Australia and Asahi Premium Beverages businesses. Later that year, we extended the integration to include Independent Liquor (now Asahi Beverages) in New Zealand.
Today, we employ more than 2100 people across Australia and New Zealand, with manufacturing facilities and sales forces in both countries.
Asahi Lifestyle Beverages
Asahi Lifestyle Beverages (formerly Schweppes Australia) markets and sells an extensive range of non-alcohol beverages including soft drinks, mixers, mineral water, water, juice, tea, energy and sports drinks. Our brands include Schweppes, Solo, Cottee’s Cordials, The Real Iced Tea Co, Cool Ridge, Frantelle and Spring Valley. We make and distribute a range of products under licence including Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Gatorade and Mountain Dew.
Asahi Beverages New Zealand
Asahi Beverages New Zealand markets and sells alcohol beverages in New Zealand and exports around the world. AB NZ is a market leader in ready-to-drink beverages, and also participates in spirits, beer and ciders. Brands include Vodka Cruiser, Woodstock, Asahi Super Dry, Boundary Road Brewery and NZ Pure Lager. AB NZ also distributes the Treasury Wine Estates portfolio of wines in New Zealand.
Carlton & United Breweries
Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) division markets and sells alcohol brands in Australia, with many products sold internationally. It comprises of the CUB business acquired in June 2020 and Asahi Premium Beverages – now called CUB Premium Beverages.
The range contains some of Australia’s most iconic and loved beers such as Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught, Asahi Super Dry, Great Northern and Pure Blonde. CUB’s stable of brands also includes global premium beer brands such as Peroni and Corona, craft beers, ciders, spirits and a quality ready-to-drink portfolio such as Vodka Cruiser and Woodstock.

Asahi's history dates back to 1889 under the name Osaka Breweries, with Asahi Breweries becoming a separate company in 1949. Today, it is the largest brewer in Japan with a head office in Tokyo, 147 subsidiaries globally and 95 manufacturing plants. The Group employs about 31,600 employees around the globe.
Key products and brands include Asahi Super Dry, one of Japan’s best-known and most popular beer brands, as well as ready-to-drink beverages, whisky, wine and spirits, including shochu and sake. In addition, the group produces canned coffee, tea-based beverages and carbonated soft drinks. It also produces a wide range of food products, pharmaceuticals and supplements.

Our history is rich, our stories are varied, and together they make us who we are.
Asahi Beverages started to form in 2014 when we announced plans to integrate the operations of the Schweppes Australia and Asahi Premium Beverages businesses. Later that year, we announced plans to extend the integration to include Independent Liquor (now Asahi Beverages) in New Zealand.
In October 2018 we changed the name of our Schweppes Australia business to Asahi Lifestyle Beverages, a name which more accurately describes our extensive and varied non-alcohol portfolio which includes Schweppes and many other iconic brands.
In June 2020, we welcomed Carlton & United Breweries to the Asahi Beverages family, expanding our range of great tasting beverages with the addition of some of Australia’s most popular and well-loved beer brands.
Today, we employ more than 3800 people across Australia and New Zealand, with manufacturing facilities and sales teams in both countries.
